About the event

Join us for an exciting and educational experience at Gees Bees as we invite you to get up close and personal with one of nature's most fascinating creatures: bees! This unique event offers participants the opportunity to witness the inner workings of a beehive and gain a deeper understanding of these essential pollinators.

During the 40 minute demonstration, participants will be safely situated in a screened observation area, providing an unobstructed view of the beehive and its busy inhabitants. Our knowledgeable beekeeper will guide you through the process, sharing insights into the fascinating world of bees and their vital role in our ecosystem.  If you are feeling adventurous and if the bees are in good humour, we offer participants to opportunity to put on a bee jacket and hold a frame of bees.

With the utmost care and expertise, the beekeeper will open the beehive, revealing the intricate structures within and giving you a firsthand glimpse of the bees' remarkable activities. You will witness the bees as they tirelessly gather nectar, create honeycombs, and communicate with each other through complex dance-like movements.

Throughout the observation, the beekeeper will explain the bees' behaviors, hive dynamics, and the importance of their work in pollinating plants. You'll learn about the different roles of worker bees, drones, and the queen bee, and discover the remarkable teamwork that goes into sustaining the hive.

This event is best suited for children 6 years and older, but all ages are welcome, and our knowledgeable staff will ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Whether you're a bee enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply curious about the wonders of the natural world, "See the Bees at Gees Bees" promises to be an engaging and educational adventure.
