Honey Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies are nutritious and easy to make. But did you know that many yogurt-based smoothies are loaded with added sugar?


Next time you make your favourite smoothie recipe, try sweetening plain yogurt with honey. Not only will it cut out the refined sugar, but will add the antibacterial and antioxidant benefits of raw honey. If you have seasonal allergies, the honey may help with those too!


Here are a few of our favourites.


1. Classic Honey Strawberry Smoothie


Our son's favourite, honey strawberry smoothies are easy and delicious. Local in-season strawberries are best, of course. We are fortunate to grow fresh strawberries on our farm, which we freeze for winter-time smoothies.

1 cup of fresh strawberries (frozen works too)

1/2 cup plain greek yogurt

1 tbsp Gees Bees honey

1/2 cup ice


Combine in a blender and pulse until smooth.


For a Strawberry Banana smoothie, add 1/2 a banana. For a Very Berry Smoothie, add some raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc.


2. Clean Green Honey Kiwi Smoothie


For a vitamin boost, these green smoothies are one of our go-to's - packed with goodness from spinach, kiwi, green apple, mint, and honey!

Ingredients:

1 cup baby spinach leaves

1 kiwi, peeled and roughly chopped

1 small apple, roughly chopped (about 1/2 cup)

1-2 teaspoons Gees Bees honey

Sprigs of mint (optional)

Splash of lime (optional)

1/2 cup water

3-4 ice cubes


Combine in a blender and pulse until smooth.


3. Tropical Honey Mango Smoothie


Fool your taste buds into thinking you're on vacation, with a little taste of paradise in mid-winter ;) This one is also great when you have some over-ripe bananas hanging around.

1 cup non-fat milk

1 cup greek yogurt plain

2 tbsp Gees Bees honey

1 ½ cups ice cubes

1 banana

1 mango about 1 cup chopped

1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)


Combine in a blender and pulse until smooth.


4. Four Times Awesome Smoothie


Peanut butter + banana = awesome!

Peanut butter + honey = awesome!

Peanut butter + chocolate = awesome!

Chocolate + banana = awesome!


This smoothie is 4 X awesome and a good one if you're craving a milkshake

1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 tbsp. peanut butter (we prefer natural unsweetened)

1 tbsp honey

1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder

1 banana

1 cup ice cubes


Combine in a blender and pulse until smooth.
